Technical Program Manager - Ecommerce


Job Title: Technical Program Manager – Ecommerce

Progile Tech is looking for an experienced TPM to run several eCommerce related initiatives for a Luxury Home Furnishing retailer. This is a high visibility role since eCommerce drives the lion share of the client’s revenue. 

To be a part of the Client’s eCommerce engineering team, the ideal candidate must be a natural leader and a problem solver with past experience leading eCommerce initiatives by managing multiple tracks at once. The TPM should have strong and fundamental knowledge of how an eCommerce site works and able to drive the development efforts by leading engineers, QA, and other team members. 

Responsibilities: 
  • Quickly ramp-up on the client’s business systems, learn about the key parties involved, and start developing a mental picture of the client’s environments and applications. 
  • Proactively set up meetings cross-functionally to understand the inflight and upcoming projects to document the dependencies and priorities. 
  • Coordinate with the business, engineering, and other teams to understand the as-is and to-be state of the initiatives. 
  • Develop project charters, funding requirements, resource matrix, project plans, and communication plans to align with management on the implementation approach. 
  • Work with external parties to build SOW, refine and review vendor SOWs, on-board vendors, help setup their access, and assign them tasks. 
  • Collaborate across internal and external parties to understand tasks, dependencies, and build and maintain comprehensive project schedule within Smartsheets. 
  • Proactively look out for issues and risks that may materialize within the program and escalate them to the management as necessary.  
  • Participate in road-mapping discussions, document as necessary, and communicate risks or issues involved. 
  • Work independently on multiple projects in parallel scheduling and coordinating across business, engineering, data, and other teams to drive solutions development. 
  • Setup necessary sprint ceremonies to run the project in an agile fashion; run daily stand-ups, triage stories and bugs, assign and reassign tickets in Jira, understand the root causes for issues to maintain the momentum and velocity.
  • Schedule and host management level meetings such as weekly status and steering committee meetings and produce the necessary documentations for them. 
  • Work with the business users to setup UAT timeline, develop production rollout strategy and ensure functionalities are deployed as expected.  
  • Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements verbally or through written documentation to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that they are understood. 
  • Provide guidance and/or instruction to junior staff members. 

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field Computer Science, Information systems, or in similar field; Masters is preferred
  • 12+ years of experience as a Technical Project or Program Manager out of which 3 years with eCommerce Projects. 
  • Strong understanding of eCommerce applications and functionalities – cart and checkout, serving up of content, inventory management, and etc. Oracle ATG, Commercetools, SAP-Hybris or other similar application stacks 
  • PMP and CSM certification is high desirable
  • Working knowledge of JIRA, Confluence and Smartsheets 
  • Must be proactive and have the ability to work independently
